It's become apparent to me that my kids are very aware that with everything I've got going on, I can't be there to follow through with everything. So I ask the kids to do something and rarely does it get done. Looks like there will be some changes here because it's getting really frustrating being ignored. So over the next day or so I will be coming up with a plan to try and get the kids on task, be responsible, and maybe get some things done around here.
Wednesdays are always crazy days: play practice, Activity days, Mutual, life. Jon's mom offer to take Jillian for the day but wanted me to drop her off. I decided to just keep her here for the day rather than spend more time chasing in the car. She wasn't too bad, although she must be having a hungry day because she ate 2 lunches and had thirds for dinner. My little hobbit.

5 Weeks 2 Days (2/16): Happy Anniversary to Me and Jon
Today seemed so short in compared to some days. Maybe it was because I didn't work a 14 hour day.
I was up at 4:00 to make sure Ben was up for the temple, but I must admit, I went back to bed and slept until 6:00. Some of the kids had Valentine parties today so they were taping pencils to their cards before they left for school. Kristin called to see if I had gas at home because she ran out of gas up the street, but the neighbor happened by while she was talking to me and so I can only assume she helped her, because I didn't see her out there after I dropped the kids off at school. Plus I drive on Tuesdays and the neighbor girls said their mom was helping her.
Got a call around noon from the school saying Jacob and another boy ran into eachother during recess and he got a nice shiner from it. They didn't know if I wanted to pick him up and let him come home or now. I took some Motrin over, cause I thought they said he hit is head, but apparently it was just the eye. He kept asking me if it really got black or just stayed purple. I'll have to get a picture up soon.
I left for Jon's place about 3:30 so I could be there for dinner and the evening workout. We had baked salmon, broccoli, and grapes. We then headed over to the gym to do water aerobics. They have two new guys (actually 3 but one stay because he was too tired). The guys said they'd never joke about water aerobics being sissy again. It was pretty fun but it sure is a challenge to keep it up and keep your balance.

5 Weeks and a Day (2/15) : It's been a long day
Today was travel day. And what long day it was. The first part wasn't so bad, and the kids were pretty good, but when we stopped to get something to eat they wanted to eat there, so that took more time out of the day. Then we had to make another emergency stop for Jillian about 2 hours later. The weather was misty; not enough to have the wipers on much, but enough to get the roads wet so that when you got behind a truck it splattered you with mud and you couldn't see anything. The 9 hour trip ended up being closer to 10.5 by the time we got home. Glad that's over with.
Talked to Jon when I got home. They invited me to come work out with the group tomorrow and eat dinner with them for mine and Jon's anniversay. Romantic and Sexy.

4 Weeks and 6 Days and 5 Weeks: Happy Valentine's Day
I just can't seem to stay up with my days this week. Maybe it's the hours I'm keeping, who knows.
I picked up Sam and Ben from school Friday, had to run some errands, and didn't get out until 4:30ish. We took the southern route and it went pretty good. The weather was great until we hit Vail around 11:00 at night. It was only snow flurries but the road was covered in snow and it made it slick and hard/impossible to see the lines. I wondered why they didn't just bring out the plows but about 10 miles into it I noticed the wind blowing snow into the road and creating whiteouts in patches. Fortunately that only lasted for about a mile, and the snowy roads about 30 miles, but I took that area really slow. Figured why push it. Plus, Ben and Sam woke up about midnight and kept me company the rest of the trip. We got to my sister's at 2:00 AM.
Saturday was nice and quiet. Slept in until about 8:00 or 9:00. Katherine and I went on a hike, and I've discovered that I'm not a trained hiker. I should have told her that if she killed me doing this she'd have to keep the kids. The hardest part was the snow and mud. It was after 10:00 when we got out and the mud was a mess. I thought the way back down would be easier, but it wasn't. We were slipping and sliding. I even took a dump at one point and manage to cover my shoes and the left side of my leg in mud. Good thing I didin't go butt first. Katherine probably would have made me walk home.
Saturday late afternoon we took the kids to the mall to play. Dave stayed with them while Katherine and I did shopping. We took much longer than expected and I think Dave will make sure he's busy next time we go shopping.
Saturday evening we went to a pops symphony and the Three Phantoms were there performing. They played and say show tunes all night. I was so great. Sammy came with us and when it was over she leaned over to me and said, "We need to do this more often." I agree.
Sunday was church and pretty quiet. Deanna is running a fever again and complaining of a sore throat. Today Katherine, Dani and I also worked on Dani's indian costume for her play. I'm so glad Katherine was able to do this because it turned out really cute and I don't think I would have done it as quickly or nicely.
I was down on the scale today, which makes me happy. Of course, it wasn't my normal scale, so that could play into it, but I'm down 3 pounds, so I doubt my scale is off by that much. Guess paying closer attention to my eating and fitness this week helped. I'll continue to stay within my 1600 calories and exercise every day.

4 Weeks and 4 and 5 Days (2/11 and 2/12): A breathe of fresh air
I don't know what it is about this week, but I can't seem to remember to post the day of. It's always the next morning.
Well, I made my iniatial deadline for work. Unfortunately it was just the draft of the book so I still need to get the guide in finalized format and get that out too soon. But at least there's something there, so if worse comes to worse....they've got something.
I can't get over how quiet it is around here. Even Kristin has been picking up more shifts, so often times it's just me. Kristin was real ambitious yesterday. She finished up some laundry and got it put away, did the dishes, and started cleaning the kid's room (that they were suppose to have clean last week-only Dani got her's clean before she left). So, the house still needs lots of work, but now I have that much less to stress over.
I know today hasn't happened yet, but I figured I wouldn't be here this evening and ought to post now. This morning I'm going to work. I probably won't work a full day. I figure the 60 hours I worked prior to today should allow me to skip out a little early today. Then I'll pick up Ben and Sam from school and we're off to Colorado. On the whole the weather looks good, but regardless of the route I take, north or south, there will be some place that is expecting light snow showers. I'll flip a coin before I head out.
It will be nice to see the kids again. I talked to Jacob and Jillian last night. I asked Jacob if he was being good. He said, "Sometimes I fouyt". Thinking this meant 'fight' I said, "well, why are you fighting?" He said, "I keep fouyting." I reminded him to be good and try not to fight. He said again, "I just keep fouyting sometimes. But then I go in the bathroom and turn on the fan so others don't have to smell it."............Oh, farting. Now I get it. So, I guess if I had a choice between my kid fighting or farting....which would I chose.
Sounds like Deanna's sick now. I sure they're all over this before we have to drive home. I'm starting to think I fly a plane instead of drive a car, always carrying puke bags around with me. Good thing they're good travelers in all other respects.
Back to the grind. Lots to do today before I go. I'm praying for a good trip.

4 Weeks and 2 and 3 Days (Tues 2/9, Wed 2/10): Already?
Well, it's amazing how much you can get done when it's quiet around the house. The place is still a mess, but I'm getting a lot done for work. Still pulling 12+ hour days this week. Managed to get my exercise in during Biggest Loser. Hey, I recognized where they were. Hey Jeffrey family, why didn't we see you on the show, I mean they were right there.
Wednesday night is Mutual. Already dropped off Ben and Samantha goes at 7:00. Wow, a quiet day and then a quiet evening? What's with that? Just as well. I've got a deadline for work today and I still have 2 lessons to go. I hope I can get it done without incident.

4 Weeks and 1 Day (Monday Feb 8): It's been a long day
I'm running behind on a work draft deadline so I was up by 3:30 this morning. Got Sam and Ben up by 6:00 or 6:30 so they could get ready for school, and we're back to family time at 7:00 (prayer, breakfast and scripture reading). As soon as they left I was back to work and stayed there until 5:00, when I took a break to do some interval training on the treadmill. I worked a bit longer and then wrapped up for the day so we could have family time and dinner. The table has laundry on it, so we sat around the counter for dinner, and for family night we gathered a few items Jon needed dropped off. Didn't get to bed until like 11:30. I'm doing okay now but I'm sure it's going to catch up with me soon.
